Our Work
Obesity is a major public health concern for all Americans and especially for Blacks. In 2004, 45% of all Blacks were obese. Black women are particularly at risk -- at present 54% are obese. Obesity is a risk factor for several major cancers -- approximately 90,000 US cancer deaths each year could be prevented by reducing obesity.
